Question by ron: Is ADT security and monitoring systems a decent deal for older homeolder?
My mom wanted a security system, ADT is a bit pricey on the monthly monitoring, but might be worth if its decent no hassle service? Whats been your experience?
I could put a wireless system in myself for cheap, but feel since she’s older and lives alone it should have a monitoring service.

Hi Ron,
I bet when you were younger your Mom could have done things on the cheap too. Your Mom lives alone and she needs the monitoring and security that ADT or any reputiable company has to offer.
In reality your Mom is priceless~
Because you are considering her needs, shows you love and care about her well being. No short cuts. Find a company you are comfortable with ie ADT, take the tax deduction if you can, and choose from a company with a good track record.

Shop around. The monitoring service is usually outsourced to a call center anyway. ADT charges for their name recognition and the advertising fees that are the result of having such a well known name.
ADT is very reputable and provides good service. However, the presence of an alarm system (signs or window decals) is usually enough to keep any intruders away.
Therefore, I would shop around for a cheaper monthly payment.
Also, the system should create an “envelop” around the house so that someone can’t get in without triggering the alarm.
Some companies offer free installation because they make money on the monthly fee.
